About Us...

The Store:

The concept of BACCHUS Wine Made Simple was born in 1999, in Manhattan Beach, California. Instead of categorizing wines by varietal and region, why not simplify the pursuit of good wine for all levels of wine enthusiasts and categorize the wines by style: the character and dominant elements of a wine? Is it bold? Mellow? Fruity? Crisp? Smooth? Rich? Bubbly? It wasn't long before there was a franchise in New York and Arizona.

In September 2003, Charlie Bean and Ron Miranda, so taken with the store and ready for a new challenge, took over this original concept store with the determination to use their combined corporate business experience and grow that concept to create a neighborhood wine store like no other. Though there is still a Bacchus in New York and Arizona, they are now independent entities.

Now, years later, BACCHUS Wine Made Simple has established itself, not only in the Manhattan Beach community, but also throughout the country with wine club members and corporate customers nationwide. Our values? Exemplary customer service. Extraordinary wine.

The Owners:

Charlie Bean has over twenty years of corporate management experience. She is a motivating force and keeps everybody on track while managing the operations of our busy little store. Amazingly, not only does she keep this ship sailing smoothly, she also still works her corporate job! (It's tough to convince ourselves that we don't have time to do things, when we have her as an example!)

Ron Miranda is the Sommelier...with a twenty-plus year background in technology sales management. He has the golden palate and manages the day-to-day front of the house activities. If you visit our store, you will more than likely, be helped by Ron.

The Staff:

Sarah Tilton is our Executive Chef. Why does our retail store have an Executive Chef? Well, for private parties and food pairing recipes, of course! In the two years that she has been with us, her dedication to the store and passion for exceptional food and wine has made her an invaluable part of our team.

Frankie Van Kempen is back! The man with a great palate and a gift for humor to match came back to us. He's a great source of wine and culinary information, super helpful and just plain fun to be around!
